Lining up to vote

Voters lined up early in front of Whitman Town Hall this morning to cast their ballot for the presidential election.
Town Clerk Pam Martin anticipates that 85 to 90 percent of the town’s approximately 9,300 registered voters will cast ballots today. That compares with the 2000 election when 88 to 89 percent participated. In 2004, there was an 83 percent turnout. In anticipation of the busy day she put on extra poll workers - about 36 in total.
